“Google Rolls Out Option for Gmail Users to Change Email Addresses”

Must read

Millions of Gmail users are soon getting the option to change their email addresses to brand new ones. Google had previously hinted at this update, and it is now being rolled out globally. In an update on the Gmail blog page, Google stated that users could switch their Google Account email ending in gmail.com to a new address with the same ending.

This change could be beneficial, particularly for those who want a new username or have experienced changes in their circumstances. However, Google has emphasized that this feature is gradually becoming available to all users and may not be accessible to everyone yet.

The new system will allow both the old and new email addresses to coexist, ensuring that any emails sent to the current Gmail address will be automatically forwarded to the new one. Google assures users that none of their account data will be impacted, preserving photos, messages, and emails linked to the original address.

To check if you are eligible to switch to a new Gmail address without losing emails, follow these steps:
– Visit myaccount.google.com/google-account-email on your computer and sign in if required.
– Click on Personal info in the top-left corner.
– Choose Email, then Google Account email.
– Under “Google Account email,” click Change Google Account email.
– If the option is not available, it may not be accessible to you yet.
– Input the new username you wish to use, ensuring it is not in current use or previously deleted.
– Click Change email, then confirm by selecting Yes, change email.
– Proceed with the on-screen instructions.

Upon completion, the new Gmail address will become the primary account email, while the old address will be retained as an alternate email.
