“Manhattan Introduces Aero 4K Streamer with Freely”

Must read

The trend towards streaming over traditional TV continues to surge, with Sky leading the way through innovative devices like the Stream box and Glass TV. These devices utilize broadband to deliver live and on-demand content directly to homes, eliminating the need for conventional satellite dishes. Despite Sky’s dominance in this arena, new options are emerging.

One such contender is Freely, introduced in 2024 and supported by the Freeview team. Freely offers free access to a range of popular TV shows, sports, and movies streamed over broadband. Initially, viewers required a new TV with built-in Freely to access the platform, which proved somewhat inconvenient. However, a recent development introduced a Freely-compatible Pleio puck, enabling users to enjoy the service on existing televisions.

Adding to the array of choices, Manhattan has unveiled its inaugural Freely set-top box. Renowned for its successful Freeview boxes comparable to Sky Q, Manhattan is now shifting its focus with the introduction of the Aero 4K TV Streamer. Set to launch in February, this device promises access to 60 live TV channels and over 75,000 hours of on-demand content without any monthly subscription fees. Similar to Sky’s Stream box, all content is delivered via Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for traditional aerials or satellite dishes.

The Aero operates on the acclaimed TiVo OS, granting users access not only to Freely but also to popular apps like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and YouTube. Additionally, it includes TiVo+, offering approximately 400 free streaming channels and a vast library of on-demand movies and TV shows.

True to its name, the Aero supports 4K picture quality and features voice search functionality, although it lacks the capability to record programs to a hard drive.

In a statement about the launch, Manhattan’s COO, Alex Arbab-Zadeh, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Freely is an excellent new platform delivering top British content over broadband without any monthly charges. Aero solves the issue of TVs lacking built-in Freely. Simply connect to Wi-Fi, and you have access to live TV, catch-up services, and all your favorite streaming apps. It’s a straightforward and cost-effective way to enhance any TV without replacement.”

The Manhattan Aero 4K TV Streamer with Freely is set to hit the market in February 2026, priced at £69.99. Consumers can purchase it from retailers such as Currys, John Lewis, and Amazon.
