“Survey Reveals Barriers Hindering Women in Sports”

Must read

A recent survey indicated that 64% of women have embraced new sports in the last year, such as rugby, football, and tennis, following the success of the Lionesses and English Roses. Despite this, there are still challenges hindering many women from participating in sports.

The survey, which gathered responses from 2,000 adults, highlighted that 46% of women are keen to engage in physical activities but face barriers. These obstacles include the high cost of participation, limited access to suitable facilities, and sports equipment tailored for men. Moreover, issues like lack of confidence, low energy levels, and the absence of a workout partner contribute to the reluctance to join sports.

Additionally, the study found that 38% of women are caught in a cycle where they feel unfit to join a sports team but struggle to improve fitness due to inactivity. Furthermore, participants are more prone to experiencing symptoms of dehydration, such as dizziness and lack of motivation.

The research, commissioned by Liquid I. V., revealed that while 75% of individuals recognize the benefits of staying hydrated for performance, a lack of knowledge often affects their focus and drive.

Former England midfielder Jill Scott, in partnership with the powdered hydration brand for the new Hot Seat Series, emphasized the importance of staying motivated and hydrated. She noted the significance of replenishing both water and electrolytes to maintain peak performance during physical activities.

The survey disclosed that women’s workout sessions tend to be shorter than men’s, with 30% of men exercising for over an hour compared to only 21% of women. Women identified Jessica Ennis as the most inspiring figure to motivate them to try new sports, while men favored footballers Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford.

Jill Scott emphasized the role of hydration in enhancing performance and recovery, stating that it remains a daily priority for her.
