Must read

Coleen Nolan from Loose Women recently shared her ongoing feelings of guilt regarding the decision to move her mother, Maureen, into a care home due to the challenges of providing adequate care for her Alzheimer’s condition at home. The family faced a tough choice to transition Maureen to a nursing home to ensure round-the-clock support. Coleen revealed that towards the end of her life, Maureen was hardly recognizable.

During a Loose Women podcast, Coleen discussed the family’s process of allowing Maureen to select her own nursing home. Despite Coleen’s initial preference for a more modern facility, Maureen chose a homelier environment that suited her better. Coleen expressed lingering guilt about the decision, emphasizing her struggle with the feeling.

In a previous interview with the Mirror in 2008, Coleen had expressed the heartbreaking changes she witnessed in her mother due to Alzheimer’s, highlighting the significant decline in her quality of life. Maureen, originally from Dublin, had a successful singing career and was part of the musical act involving all ten members of the Nolan family.

The Nolans, consisting of Maureen and her five oldest daughters, achieved success in the music industry during the 1970s with hit singles like I’m in the Mood for Dancing and Gotta Pull Myself Together. Coleen mentioned that music brought comfort to her mother in her final days, recalling how Maureen found peace listening to music or watching musicals.
