Must read

A reboot of the hit TV series “Footballers Wives” is reportedly in the works, 20 years after its original airing from 2002 to 2006. The show, which featured stars like Zoe Lucker, Gary Lucy, Gillian Taylforth, and Susie Amy, ran for five seasons with a total of 42 episodes.

Many of the original cast members have since pursued other acting opportunities, with Gary Lucy transitioning from his role as footballer Kyle Pascoe on the show to characters in popular series like “The Bill” and “EastEnders.” Lucy has confirmed his involvement in the reboot project, hinting at a potential return in a different capacity.

ITV is said to be developing the reboot, possibly set to air in 2026, sparking curiosity among fans about the original cast members’ current whereabouts. Notably, Gary Lucy has diversified his acting career post-“Footballers Wives,” appearing in various TV shows and even participating in reality TV like Celebs Go Dating.

Gillian Taylforth, known for her role as Jackie, has also made a mark in soap operas, notably in “EastEnders.” Her character, the mother of Kyle Pascoe (played by Gary Lucy), was involved in scandalous storylines on the show. Taylforth has also ventured into reality TV with appearances on “Strictly Come Dancing” and “Celebrity Big Brother.”

Another key figure from the original series, Cristian Solimeno, portrayed the villain Jason Turner, engaging in intense storylines before his character’s demise. Post-“Footballers Wives,” Solimeno continued his acting career, delving into filmmaking and voiceover work.

Susie Amy, who played Chardonnay, a model-turned-WAG on the show, faced dramatic plotlines, including a tragic end due to anorexia. Her portrayal earned her spots on the FHM list of sexiest women. Amy has reflected on the show’s initial budget constraints, noting the creative efforts to achieve an opulent look despite limited resources.
