Man Dies in Courthouse Leap to Avoid Prison

Must read

A tragic incident unfolded as a young man met his demise after leaping from a third-floor window to evade returning to prison.

The individual, identified as Tyquan Richardson, 22, was accused of intending to distribute marijuana and possessing an ounce of the illicit substance. Law enforcement officers linked a gun found outside the court building to Richardson, leading to his impending arrest.

Upon realizing the impending consequences, Richardson impulsively crashed through a plate glass window on the third floor of the courthouse, plummeting to his death. Authorities revealed that he acted out of panic at the thought of serving jail time.

The shattered window Richardson leaped through left a significant gap. Sadly, he passed away around 1:30 pm after being swiftly transported to a nearby hospital in October 2015.

Originally from the Atlanta region in Georgia, Richardson had concerns about the repercussions of the gun charge given his criminal history, as per a local police spokesperson.

Reportedly, the 22-year-old had prior convictions and was out on bail when apprehended for allegedly concealing a loaded firearm, violating his bail terms if proven guilty.

The loaded handgun, discovered outside the court offices alongside documents bearing Richardson’s name, was a key piece of evidence. Despite admitting ownership of the firearm, Richardson managed to break free from police custody and made the fatal leap from the window.

Having spent 15 days in custody for the drug offense, Richardson had only recently been released from jail before his tragic demise.

Records show Richardson had previous convictions, including concealing a weapon in Michigan and an arrest in 2013 for aggravated assault and battery.

Witnessing the unfortunate incident, a local student named Rehmet Khan described hearing a loud noise while hanging out with friends before class.

Deputy Sheriff Dan Cochran of Fulton County expressed shock over the distressing event to local media, reflecting the community’s sentiments on the tragedy.
