“McDonald’s Fans Upset Over £2 Hash Brown Price”

Must read

McDonald’s enthusiasts are expressing frustration following a viral post on social media that disclosed the price of a single hash brown nearing £2 at select McDonald’s outlets.

The post featured an image of a McDonald’s menu board displaying a hash brown priced at £1.99 in the specific restaurant visited by the individual.

With over 459,000 views, the post was captioned: “Paying £2 for just one hash brown is unacceptable.”

Reactions poured in, with one person stating, “The prices are becoming unreasonable; it used to be a budget-friendly choice.” Another remarked, “For that amount, you might as well buy a sausage sandwich.” A third simply commented, “This is outrageous.”

Another individual shared, “McDonald’s hash browns are exceptional, but £2 is excessive.” Someone else reminisced, “I recall when they were priced at 59p.”

A spokesperson for McDonald’s clarified that many of their restaurants are independently owned and operated, allowing franchisees to set their own pricing. However, they emphasized the shared commitment to delivering a high-quality dining experience and value to customers.

This development follows McDonald’s announcement of an upcoming adjustment to the MyMcDonald’s Rewards program, where the points required for redeeming free food items will increase.

Currently, 5,500 points are needed for items like a Big Mac, Double Fillet of Fish, Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin, and Nine Chicken Nuggets. Starting March 17, the required points for these items will rise to 6,500. Customers earn 100 points for every £1 spent at McDonald’s.

Moreover, the points threshold for items such as a Medium Coffee or Small Fries will increase from 1,500 to 2,000 points. Likewise, the points needed for a regular McFlurry or an Apple Pie will rise from 2,500 to 3,500, while a Double Cheeseburger or a McChicken sandwich will require 5,000 points, up from 4,000.

A McDonald’s spokesperson acknowledged that the loyalty scheme adjustments were made in response to escalating food and supply costs. They added that along with the point increases, new fan-favorite items like Chicken Selects, Cheese sides, and a new Sausage Sandwich have been introduced for redemption, offering customers more choices.
