Aldi has decided to remove a popular dinner item from its shelves due to a potential health risk for certain consumers. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) recently reported that the discount grocer issued a warning after discovering undisclosed ingredients in some of its steak products.
The Ashfields 30 Day Matured Thin Cut Beef Steaks were found to contain milk, a detail not mentioned on the packaging. According to the FSA, this oversight could pose a health threat to individuals with milk allergies or intolerances, attributing the issue to a packaging mistake.
The affected steak packets weigh 360g and have a use-by date of October 26, 2025. Following the discovery, Aldi initiated a recall of the product and has reached out to relevant allergy support organizations to inform their members about the situation. The company has also distributed point-of-sale notices to customers, explaining the reason for the recall and providing guidance on returning the product for a full refund if necessary.
Consumers who have purchased the implicated product and have milk allergies or intolerances are advised not to consume it. Instead, they should return it to the store of purchase for a refund. For further details, individuals can visit Aldi’s customer service website or contact them directly by phone.
In cases where a food product is deemed unsuitable for sale due to safety concerns, it may be either withdrawn from shelves or recalled for customer returns. The FSA issues Allergy Alerts when there is a potential risk to consumers, such as missing or incorrect allergy labeling on food items.
