The Public Accounts Committee (PAC), responsible for overseeing public spending efficiency, has formally requested an update on the status and rationale behind the lease for the opulent Royal Lodge. The PAC chairman emphasized the public interest in ensuring transparency and value for money, especially given recent developments and Prince Andrew’s changing roles and responsibilities.
Amid escalating pressure on the monarchy to address the Prince’s situation, discussions are reportedly underway for Andrew to vacate Royal Lodge after residing there for more than two decades. Reports suggest a potential agreement for Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, to move to Frogmore Cottage and Adelaide Cottage in exchange for leaving the current property.
The PAC aims to review responses from the Crown Estate and Treasury by November 28 before deciding on further actions. Prince Andrew, who recently renounced his Duke of York title following allegations of sexual misconduct, continues to deny all accusations against him despite ongoing public scrutiny.
