Police authorities have provided a significant update on the ongoing investigation involving Anthony Williams, the suspect in a train stabbing incident. The 32-year-old individual is facing multiple charges in connection with what has been labeled a “major incident” on a train in Huntingdon that took place on Saturday.

Following the incident, approximately 10 individuals from the train were transported to the hospital due to injuries sustained. Seven of the patients have been discharged, while one LNER staff member is in critical condition but stable. The remaining three patients are also reported to be in stable condition.

British Transport Police had previously announced their examination of potential links between other reported incidents to Cambridgeshire Constabulary before the train attack. They have now confirmed that all these incidents are being connected, with ongoing active inquiries.

British Transport Police have asserted their lead role in the comprehensive investigation concerning Anthony Williams, encompassing events from October 31 and November 1. This includes incidents reported to Cambridgeshire Constabulary and an additional occurrence at Pontoon Dock DLR on November 1. Detectives from BTP are actively linking all these incidents as part of their investigative efforts.

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy emphasized the priority given to the criminal investigation by British Transport Police, highlighting close collaboration with Cambridgeshire Constabulary and the Crown Prosecution Service. Increased police presence across the railway network has been initiated to enhance safety and provide reassurance to rail staff and passengers. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities by texting the authorities on 61016.
