After experimenting with various houseplant fertilizers over the years, Tracey discovered a remarkable solution for her Christmas cactus almost by chance.
Interestingly, the recommended fertilizer for Christmas cacti is Schultz African Violet, a liquid plant food primarily designed for African Violets but beneficial for other plants as well, as reported by the Express.
The application process is straightforward – dilute a few drops of the plant feed in a liter of water and then water your Christmas cactus with the mixture to promote growth.
Tracey noted, “I achieved the most abundant blooms on my cactus ever by using this fertilizing method. Since then, it has become my preferred choice for flowering houseplants.”
For optimal results, fertilize the plant every other time you water it to prevent soil salt buildup, ensuring a feeding schedule of every two to four weeks during its active growth phase.
When caring for houseplants, it is recommended to choose a fertilizer with balanced levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as these nutrients are essential for plant health and growth.
Despite this general guideline, the effectiveness of the Schultz African Violet fertilizer can be attributed to its higher phosphorus content, crucial for flower development and overall plant vigor.
