Must read

Irish sprinter She’s Quality tragically passed away in a hospital following a pelvic fracture sustained during a race at the Breeders’ Cup in Del Mar, California. The four-year-old filly, a standout performer for trainer Jack Davison from Dunboyne, Co Meath, had a successful season with four second-place finishes in Group races in 2025.

She entered the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint as a contender but her race was cut short when she fell behind the pack early on, prompting her jockey Colin Keane to stop the race on the backstretch. Medical assistance was immediately provided as veterinarians examined her condition.

After the race, veterinarian Dr. Scott Hay expressed concern over She’s Quality’s performance and noted signs of lameness in her right hind leg. She was transported to a hospital for further evaluation by veterinary specialists.

Sadly, within 24 hours, trainer Davison announced the heartbreaking news of She’s Quality’s passing due to a pelvic fracture sustained during the race. Despite receiving initial treatment and showing stability, her condition deteriorated overnight, leading to the difficult decision to euthanize her.

Davison expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his talented filly, acknowledging the support from his team in caring for her over the years. The Breeders’ Cup also extended sympathies to She’s Quality’s connections, highlighting the impact of her loss on the equestrian community.
