Actor and former racing driver, Kelvin Fletcher, who gained fame by winning the 2019 season of Strictly Come Dancing, had plans to pursue a Hollywood career with his wife, fellow actor Liz Marsland. However, their relocation to California was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kelvin shared in a podcast interview that their initial dream of moving to America was halted by the unforeseen circumstances of the pandemic. Despite this setback, the couple remained open to new possibilities.
Instead of Hollywood, their path led them to the Peak District where they purchased a farm, a stark contrast to Kelvin’s on-screen role as a farmer in Emmerdale for two decades. The decision to venture into farming was driven by a desire for a different lifestyle and a connection to nature.
While initially not considering commercial farming, the couple embraced the opportunity and allowed TV cameras to document their journey, showcasing the challenges and rewards of their new lifestyle. Kelvin humorously mentioned the added difficulty of working with your partner in such a setting.
Reflecting on the experience, Kelvin acknowledged the vulnerability of inviting cameras into their home but also highlighted the personal growth and changes in perspective that living in the countryside brought to their lives. The couple’s journey into farming has altered their food choices, family dynamics, and overall outlook on life, leading to a profound revelation.
Their transition to the countryside has been a transformative experience, reshaping their values and priorities, emphasizing the importance of being present and appreciating the natural world around them.
