The mastermind behind the immensely popular series Yellowstone is gearing up to produce a new film inspired by a billion-dollar video game franchise. Despite his decision to part ways with Paramount after his current contract expires, Taylor Sheridan has been recruited by the studio to co-write the script for an upcoming Call of Duty movie.

This movie adaptation of the lucrative gaming series by Activision is highly anticipated, having generated over a billion dollars in revenue over the years. The collaboration between Sheridan and filmmaker Peter Berg has been confirmed, with Berg set to co-write and direct alongside Sheridan.

Sheridan, known for his work on projects like Hell or High Water, has recently signed a new deal with NBCUniversal, marking the end of his current contract with Paramount in 2028. The 55-year-old, who initially rose to fame as an actor in Sons of Anarchy, continues to enthrall audiences with his creations for Paramount, including Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, Tulsa King, and Landman, along with several upcoming Yellowstone universe spin-offs.

As for Berg, recognized for his action-packed films like American Primeval and Battleship, the storyline and characters for the Call of Duty movie are yet to be disclosed. The Call of Duty video game series, which debuted in 2003 during World War II, has evolved through various titles like Modern Warfare, Advanced Warfare, and Black Ops, with the seventh installment scheduled for release soon.

Paramount Pictures and Activision’s partnership for a live-action Call of Duty movie was announced in September, following the successful adaptations of video games like Super Mario Bros and Minecraft, as well as The Last of Us series on HBO. Fans eagerly await details on the time period and narrative of the film, which could introduce fresh plotlines and characters.

Known for their cinematic action and grand-scale scenes, the Call of Duty games present a high standard that Sheridan and Berg must meet to satisfy the game’s fan base. The entire Yellowstone franchise is available for streaming on Paramount+.
