Must read

A former TV news anchor, Angelynn ‘Angie’ Mock, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after her elderly mother was found stabbed to death in their shared home. Mock, who used to work for Fox 2 News in St. Louis, Missouri, was discovered covered in blood outside the residence by officers from the Wichita Police Department on the morning of Friday, October 31.

Anita Avers, Mock’s 80-year-old mother and a well-known marriage and family therapist, was found unresponsive in bed with multiple stab wounds. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Avers was pronounced dead at 8:26 am. Mock, who had cuts on her hands at the time of the incident, received medical treatment for undisclosed injuries before being taken into custody.

The 47-year-old journalist, who had a successful career at Fox 2 from 2011 to 2015, is currently being held on a $1 million bond at Sedgwick County Jail. Public records indicate that Mock’s first-degree murder charge is active, but it remains unclear whether she has entered a plea or hired legal representation.

A neighbor, Alyssa Castro, recounted the chilling encounter with Mock, who appeared distressed and covered in blood, seeking assistance to call 911. Dispatchers later relayed information that the incident was described as a self-defense act. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the situation, categorized as a domestic dispute.

Mock, who transitioned from a sports reporter to a news anchor, had worked at various media outlets before her recent sales role at a data management software company. The incident has shocked many who knew her during her media career, highlighting a dramatic shift in her personal life.
