“Greg James Encourages Freedom in Child-Rearing Choices”

Must read

Greg James, a popular Radio 1 DJ and presenter, recently addressed a sensitive topic that had been a subject of numerous inquiries directed at him. Taking to his social media platform, the 39-year-old shared a direct message with his followers to convey his sentiments.

In an Instagram post, Greg wrote: “A delicate subject but one I’ve had a huge number of messages about. All The Best For The Future delves into the topic of having kids…”

In a video segment, Greg poses the question: Should you have kids or not? He starts by emphasizing that there is no pressure to have children. “You might think there is,” he states, “But there isn’t. You don’t have to have kids if you don’t want to.”

Further reinforcing his stance, Greg asserts, “If you really don’t want to, you shouldn’t.” He explains that his book aims to offer assistance to individuals, with the section on having children resonating strongly with the audience. “I feel the pressure. I have felt the pressure,” he candidly admits.

Reflecting on his personal experience, Greg shares, “Because my sister had kids, my friends are having kids, the world says you should have them. I never, it never crossed my mind when I was growing up to go ‘oh, I might not have kids’. I just always assumed I’d be a dad because nobody said to me ‘you don’t have to’. I’m here to tell you, you don’t have to.”

Concluding his message, Greg emphasizes that it is possible to lead a fulfilling life with or without children. He adds, “My number one thing is, and I don’t know if this is controversial, if you don’t know and you’ve discussed it properly with your partner or whoever you want to have a kid with, if you don’t know, I think it’s best not to. There are loads of s*** parents around and you don’t want to be another one. That kid deserves people who are really up for it.”

Greg urges for a more respectful approach towards discussing the topic of having children, advocating to refrain from asking individuals casually about their family planning decisions. “Let’s cut that out,” he insists before humorously adding, “keep your f***ing beaks out, okay?”
