“Helicopter Crash in Dagestan Claims Five Lives”

Must read

A recent incident in Russia’s Republic of Dagestan involved a tragic helicopter crash resulting in the loss of five lives. Video footage captured the helicopter attempting to land but hitting a pier, causing its tail to break off. Despite the damaged state of the aircraft, the pilot made a puzzling decision to steer it towards the open water before it ultimately crashed into a home, claiming the lives of five senior members of a Russian defense manufacturer.

The helicopter, identified as the Ka-226, was carrying workers from a defense plant associated with war-related activities. Four individuals onboard perished in the crash, while three survivors sustained severe injuries. The harrowing sequence of events was recorded as the helicopter collided with the pier, causing the tail to snap while in mid-air.

In a desperate attempt to keep the aircraft airborne, the pilot lifted it over the sea with the broken tail, but control was quickly lost during the climb. Subsequently, the helicopter veered towards land for an emergency landing but tragically crashed before reaching safety. The footage ends before the crash, but separate CCTV clips show the helicopter erupting in flames near the shore.

The pilot’s decision to head towards deeper water rather than making a safe landing has sparked criticism among fellow pilots in Russia. Speculations suggest that the pilot may have been impaired, as indicated by his erratic maneuvers during the attempted landing. The crash claimed the lives of four senior staff members from Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant, a facility involved in manufacturing equipment for military planes.

The cause of the catastrophe, described as a “catastrophe” by the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, is under investigation. The ill-fated flight was en route from Kizlyar to a recreation base when the tragic incident occurred.
