Carabao Cup Matches Face Chaos: Delays Impacting Fans’ Travel

Must read

Two Carabao Cup matches face potential chaos due to significant delays that could impact fans’ travel to Wednesday’s games. Five matches are on the schedule for the evening, involving several Premier League teams.

Manchester City will journey to Swansea, while Arsenal is set to host Brighton at the Emirates Stadium. Liverpool will entertain Crystal Palace, Wolves will welcome Chelsea at Molineux, and Newcastle will face Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park.

Although most games are expected to proceed smoothly, some may encounter delays on the road and rail networks. Brighton supporters were advised to seek alternate routes to North London following a train incident between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges stations.

In a statement, Southern Railway expressed regret over the situation and assured cooperation with Network Rail and emergency services to manage the incident promptly and safely. Brighton also issued a warning regarding train conditions for fans heading to the Emirates Stadium.

Apart from the Arsenal-Brighton match, fans attending the Man City-Swansea game may also be affected due to a serious collision on the A4067, the primary route to the stadium from the M4.

In the Carabao Cup, Brentford, Fulham, and Cardiff City secured spots in the fifth round on Tuesday. The draw for the next round is scheduled for Wednesday once all games conclude.

Newcastle emerged victorious in the previous season, defeating Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley Stadium. The fifth round is slated for the week starting December 15, with semi-finals in January and February next year.

Sky has reduced the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, offering savings and over 1,400 live matches across various leagues. Sky will also broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League games next season, a significant increase.
