Must read

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced on Monday the arrest of a 51-year-old man from Montreal for allegedly issuing death threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney. Marc-AndrĂ© Porlier faces charges of making threats to cause death or bodily harm, as per an RCMP press release. The threats were reportedly communicated via email to various recipients, including a senator, as stated in the news release. The accused also purportedly threatened “all Canadian police officers,” according to official documents.

Porlier had previously been convicted of arson and mischief related to a church fire in Toronto in 2017, as confirmed by law enforcement to CBC News. He was under probation for those offenses, a spokesperson for the RCMP disclosed. Porlier made a court appearance on Saturday, indicated the news release, emphasizing that the charges against him remain unproven in court.
