Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) Larry Brock has announced his intention to step down from the House of Commons in the coming month. Brock, who represents the Brantford—Brant South—Six Nations riding in Ontario, has served in two consecutive parliamentary terms, first elected in 2021 and re-elected in 2025. Prior to his political career, he worked as an assistant Crown attorney.
In a social media post on Thursday, Brock revealed that he has accepted a position to return to the Brantford Crown Attorney’s office, citing a desire to be more directly involved in the justice system. His resignation is set to take effect on September 18, as stated in the letter announcing his departure.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre expressed gratitude for Brock’s service as an MP in a brief message posted on a platform. Poilievre wished Brock and his family success and happiness, concluding with a heartfelt message of “God bless, my friend.”
Following the 2025 federal election, where the Conservatives secured the second-highest number of seats, the party has experienced the departure of seven MPs from its federal caucus, including Brock. Four Conservative MPs made the decision to switch sides and join the governing Liberals – Chris d’Entremont, Michael Ma, Matt Jeneroux, and Marilyn Gladu. Additionally, Richard Martel, who previously represented the Chicoutimi—Le Fjord riding in Quebec, was appointed to the Senate by Prime Minister Mark Carney. Meanwhile, long-serving Conservative MP Cathay Wagantall of Yorkton—Melville in Saskatchewan is also set to resign from her position, effective August 31.
