Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to police reports. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at the nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the venue, were apprehended on Wednesday and have been accused of assault causing bodily harm. They were subsequently released on undertakings. While the specific nightclub was not disclosed, authorities mentioned that it was located on Main Street, positioned between Portage and William avenues.
Allen has undergone medical examinations, received a medical prognosis, and is currently recuperating at home, according to a statement released by the team on Thursday. Expressing his thoughts on the assault, Allen stated, “The assault should never have happened nor should it happen to anyone for any reason.” He further added, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
