Must read

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand has announced that one of the 30 Canadian citizens and permanent residents who went missing following the devastating floods in Nepal’s border area with China has been located unharmed. This individual had been unreachable due to communication disruptions but managed to establish contact on Tuesday.

The flash floods occurred a week ago after a glacier collapsed in the Himalayan border region between Nepal and China. The aftermath of the flooding has been severe, with more than 1,100 reported deaths and over 3,900 individuals still missing. Nepal’s Foreign Ministry has indicated that approximately 590 foreign nationals from 39 different countries are yet to be located.

In response to the crisis, Canada is mobilizing support by dispatching over 18,000 emergency supplies from the Canadian Red Cross reserves to the affected region. Additionally, the Canadian government has committed $5 million in humanitarian aid to assist in the relief efforts.
