Broadcaster Kirsty Gallacher Attacked in London

Must read

Kirsty Gallacher disclosed that she was violently attacked in a random incident while in London, describing it as being “kicked like a football.” The assault occurred as she was walking to her car, a routine she follows most nights after work. Despite the incident happening in a well-lit area with people around, Gallacher recounted how a man dressed in dark clothing approached her, brushed past her, then suddenly kicked her before fleeing the scene.

Expressing her shock and displaying bruises as evidence, Gallacher emphasized that she was not instigating any confrontation and was simply going about her usual business heading back home to her family. She highlighted the lack of immediate assistance from a nearby security guard but thanked witnesses, particularly some helpful women who intervened.

Gallacher, who kickstarted her broadcasting career with Sky Sports in the late 90s and later returned as a Sky Sports News presenter in 2011 for a seven-year tenure, has also showcased her hosting skills on programs with other networks such as ITV and Channel 4. Additionally, she has ventured into radio broadcasting, currently hosting a drive time show on Gold Radio during weekdays.

Following Gallacher’s account, numerous messages of support poured in from various personalities, expressing sympathy and solidarity towards her unsettling experience. The incident has sparked condemnation and empathy from colleagues and peers within the broadcasting industry, reflecting a united front against such acts of violence.

In a separate development, Sky has announced a significant price reduction for its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle in anticipation of the upcoming 2025/26 season. The revised package offers substantial savings for subscribers and an expanded coverage of live matches across various leagues, including an increased number of Premier League games scheduled to be aired next season.
