“Duchess Meghan Honors Friend’s Son at Charity Tournament”

Must read

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, attended a charity event with her husband, Prince Harry, to honor the memory of a close friend’s son. The George Zajfen Tennis Tournament took place at the Los Angeles Tennis Club in honor of George Zajfen, who had a passion for tennis. George, the son of former model Kelly McKee Zajfen and entertainment lawyer Julian Zajfen, passed away in 2022 due to a sudden viral illness. Kelly, a long-time friend of Meghan, founded the Alliance of Moms, a community supporting expectant and parenting youth in the LA foster care system.

The event aimed to raise funds to support young mothers and enhance their future opportunities. During the tournament, Kelly delivered a speech while Meghan, visibly moved, wiped away a tear, with Harry standing by her side. Kelly later expressed her gratitude on Instagram for the overwhelming support, highlighting the $200,000 raised for the youth in Los Angeles and California.

In her message, Kelly thanked the presenting sponsors and Harry and Meghan for their unwavering commitment to the community and friendship. She acknowledged their dedication in honoring George’s memory and supporting The Alliance. Meghan and Kelly’s friendship dates back nearly two decades, with Meghan providing significant emotional support to Kelly, especially during difficult times like George’s passing.

Following George’s tragic death, Meghan and Harry contributed to a GoFundMe page in his honor. Kelly shared their bond and Meghan’s remarkable qualities in an Instagram Q&A, emphasizing Meghan’s continuous support and inspiration. In a heartfelt piece for People, Kelly reflected on her grief and the overwhelming kindness and support she received from her community during the darkest moments of her life.
