“Energy Providers Offer Free Electric Blankets to Aid Financial Struggles”

Must read

Energy providers such as Octopus and OVO are distributing complimentary electric blankets to households facing financial difficulties.

Electric blankets are equipped with insulated wires that heat up when connected to power, offering a cost-effective alternative to central heating for reducing energy expenses.

Octopus customers experiencing financial challenges may qualify for a free electric blanket through the Octo Assist program, a £40 million initiative aimed at supporting customers in need.

To be eligible for assistance, individuals must struggle with energy bill payments or fall into vulnerable categories such as the elderly, households with young children, or individuals with specific health conditions.

In addition to electric blankets, eligible individuals may receive grants to clear energy debts, flexible payment options, or payment breaks, with online applications available on the Octopus website.

OVO Energy also provides free electric blankets through its Extra Support Package, a £56 million support initiative. Qualified recipients may also benefit from energy-saving products like smart sockets and home upgrades such as loft insulation or a new boiler.

Support is extended to households facing financial hardship, with OVO offering payment plans and emergency credit to those in need. Applications can be made online via the OVO website.

The recent increase in energy bills sees the Ofgem price cap rise from £1,720 to £1,755 for a standard dual fuel household paying via direct debit, effective until December 31 before the next revision.

Although the Ofgem price cap sets a limit on gas and electricity charges, the total energy bill varies based on individual consumption levels without a fixed cap on overall costs.

The price cap determines the maximum annual expenditure for an average energy user, considering typical electricity and gas consumption levels over a year.
