Fabio Wardley delivered a surprising 11th-round victory over Joseph Parker, securing a chance to face undisputed heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Wardley’s journey to this point has been exceptional, especially considering his rapid transition to the professional scene following just four unlicensed fights.
Although Parker initially took the lead in their London bout on Saturday night, Wardley gained momentum in the second round, landing significant blows. The fight briefly paused when Parker’s gumshield came out, but Wardley continued to press forward.
In the 10th round, Wardley unleashed a powerful uppercut that put Parker in a tight spot. Despite Parker’s resilience, Wardley sealed the win with two rounds remaining.
Reflecting on his achievement, Wardley remarked, “It sounds like a dream, but this is real life. I’m proof of hard work, of passion, of never giving up. What I lack in experience, I make up for in chin, heart, and fight. I’m not the cleanest fighter, but I get the job done.”
The fight saw intense back-and-forth action, with Wardley ultimately claiming victory over Parker with a strong finish. This win propels Wardley towards a potential showdown with Usyk for the heavyweight title.
