Three inmates face murder charges following the death of a notorious child murderer in his prison cell.
Kyle Bevan, aged 33, had been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 28 years for a brutal assault on two-year-old Lola James in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, on July 17, 2020.
During the trial at Swansea Crown Court, it was revealed that Lola had sustained 101 distinct injuries, including a severe brain injury. Medical experts likened her injuries to those from a high-speed car collision, with signs of weapon use.
Bevan was found dead at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire after serving only two-and-a-half years of his sentence. This prison was recently in the news following the fatal stabbing of Ian Watkins, a convicted pedophile from the band Lost Prophets.
Mark Fellows, 45, Lee Newell, 56, and David Taylor, 63, have been accused of Bevan’s murder, as announced by West Yorkshire Police.
The suspects are currently in custody and are scheduled to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court today.
