Kamala Harris is contemplating a future presidential bid, expressing her determination by stating she is not finished yet. The former Vice President, who faced defeat to Donald Trump in the 2024 election, recently hinted at her potential candidacy during an interview with BBC, suggesting that she could envision herself as President one day.
In a conversation with Laura Kuenssberg, Harris shared her belief in the possibility of a female president within the lifetime of her grandnieces, hinting at her own ambitions by saying “possibly.” Emphasizing her commitment to public service, Harris stated, “I am not done,” highlighting her long-standing dedication to serving others.
Despite being considered an underdog by bookmakers in the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination, Harris leads in various polls. National polling data shows her ahead by 3.6 points compared to her closest competitor, California Governor Gavin Newsom, with Pete Buttigieg, the former Transport Secretary under Biden, trailing in third place with only 9.6%.
In response to her standings in the polls, Harris dismissed their significance, citing her past experiences of defying expectations. Regarding Trump, Harris criticized his behavior, labeling him a “tyrant” and pointing out his actions against political satirists like Jimmy Kimmel as evidence of his authoritarian tendencies.
Additionally, Harris condemned business leaders who acquiesced to Trump’s demands, particularly those who financially supported projects associated with him. She accused them of seeking proximity to power for personal gain, such as expedited mergers or avoidance of investigations.
The full interview with Harris will be aired on Ms. Kuenssberg’s BBC One program on Sunday morning. As political dynamics continue to evolve, the Mirror has launched a dedicated US Politics WhatsApp community to provide real-time updates and exclusive news coverage from the United States.
