Authorities are facing difficulties reaching a man accused of sexually assaulting a nurse at Michael Schumacher’s estate in Gland, Switzerland. Swiss media reports indicate that the alleged incident involving a caretaker, responsible for the well-being of the legendary Ferrari driver, occurred in the man’s 30s residing at Schumacher’s residence.
The accusations stem back to 2019 but have recently surfaced, revealing that the suspect is currently located in Australia. Swiss prosecutors have highlighted the challenge of establishing contact with the accused, who has been unresponsive for months. However, given the extradition agreement between Australia and Switzerland, there is a possibility of bringing the individual back for interrogation.
Efforts to summon the man to court this week have been hindered by the inability to locate him. Swiss prosecutors visited Gland to discuss the matter, only to discover that the accused has been out of touch for an extended period, while denying any wrongdoing.
The man stands accused of assaulting the nurse in a bedroom of the mansion on November 23, 2019. Although a criminal complaint was filed in 2022, the revelation of the allegation was prompted by a trial scheduled for the current week, according to Swiss outlet 24heures.
Court documents reveal that the incident occurred after a night of drinking, with the nurse and the alleged assailant encountering each other in the mansion’s billiards room. Despite a previous encounter at a Geneva nightclub where they shared a kiss, the nurse maintains there was no intimate relationship between them. The nurse and two colleagues were heading to play pool after a strenuous shift at the mansion when the assault allegedly took place.
Reports state that another individual assisted the defendant in moving the nurse upstairs, where she was left on the bed fully clothed with the lights on. Subsequently, the accused allegedly returned to the room and assaulted the nurse while she was unconscious, as per the indictment.
Two other medics present that evening claim they neither saw nor heard anything alarming. The victim lodged the criminal complaint two years after the incident, with no involvement of the Schumacher family indicated in the allegations, as none of them were present during the assault.
Michael Schumacher, who suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident in 2013, necessitating constant care since emerging from a lengthy coma, has had all updates on his condition kept private by his wife, Corinna.
