“Man Sentenced to Life for Brutal Murder of Pregnant Girlfriend”

Must read

A man convicted of murder was heard defiantly declaring his lack of remorse as he was transported in a police vehicle after fatally stabbing his pregnant girlfriend following a dispute over terminating their unborn child. Shaine March, who was on parole at the time, brutally attacked 32-year-old Alana Odysseos by stabbing her 19 times at her residence in Walthamstow, east London. March callously admitted to the police his role in the killing, stating, “I did it. I killed her, hahahaha.” He has now been sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 42 years, at the Old Bailey.

Footage from CCTV cameras displayed March leaving the scene of the crime and yelling in the police van after his arrest. In the video, he can be heard saying, “I don’t (…) regret nothing. Give me the death chamber that’s what I want,” and he added, “There’s a place for me now in hell.” Additionally, police released an audio recording of March informing his mother about his incarceration for the murder.

During the sentencing, Mr. Justice Murray highlighted aggravating factors, including the sustained violence inflicted on Alana and March’s history of coercive and controlling behavior towards her. Alana sustained multiple stab wounds across various parts of her body, including her chest, stomach, pelvis, shoulders, buttocks, right arm, thighs, and lower legs. The judge emphasized that March specifically targeted her reproductive organs during the vicious attack, repeatedly stabbing her in fatal areas.

Prior to discarding his phone and confessing to the murder, March made a chilling voice note to his mother, admitting his crime. Although calls for a whole life sentence were dismissed, the judge acknowledged that due to March’s actions, he may never be released given his age.

March, previously convicted of a fatal stabbing in 2000, had a history of violence and control. Alana, who was pregnant with his child, was advised by loved ones to leave the abusive relationship. Despite this advice, she remained with March, leading to the tragic outcome of her refusal to terminate the pregnancy, stating, “I don’t want to kill my baby.”

March, aged 47 and residing in Surrey Quays, south-east London, initially denied the murder charges but later changed his plea to guilty during the trial. Prosecutor Louise Oakley described the horrific scene where Alana was found outside her home, bleeding from multiple stab wounds, while calling out for help after the attack.

Alana’s friends revealed that she had confided in them about the controlling and abusive nature of her relationship with March, expressing her fear and distress over his behavior. Despite her vulnerability and desire for a stable family environment for her children, Alana tragically fell victim to March’s violent actions.
