“Man undergoes surgery to remove watch from oesophagus”

Must read

Doctors at a hospital were surprised to find a man with a watch stuck in his oesophagus and metal objects in his large intestine after he was brought in due to severe stomach pain. The 34-year-old underwent a three-hour operation to remove the items, which were extracted through a small incision in his abdomen. The patient, who was admitted to Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur, India, on October 9, is now recovering well.

Instances of people having foreign objects in their bodies are not uncommon. In a previous case, a woman in Taipei, Taiwan, had a fountain pen lodged in her stomach, causing her pain and eating difficulties. The pen was discovered during an endoscopy and promptly removed to prevent serious complications.

In another incident, doctors had to extract stones, bottle caps, and coins from a man’s stomach as he had ingested them to cope with anxiety. The patient, a 54-year-old from Korea, experienced stomach pains and bloating before the objects were detected and removed through surgery.

These cases serve as a reminder of the risks associated with ingesting foreign objects and the importance of seeking medical help promptly.
