“Mutya Buena Opens Up About Postnatal Depression and Departure from Sugababes”

Must read

Sugababes member Mutya Buena recently disclosed that postnatal depression played a significant role in her decision to leave the popular band. The 40-year-old singer departed the group in late 2005, shortly after giving birth to her daughter Tahlia-May, and was subsequently replaced by Amelle Berrabah.

Despite her exit, Mutya later reunited with Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy to embark on tours and create new music together. In a recent interview, Mutya shared insights into her departure from the band, expressing that she would have stayed if she had been able to take a break for a couple of weeks away from work.

During the interview with Glamour UK, Keisha reflected on the challenges the group faced over the years, emphasizing the perseverance needed to overcome obstacles and the importance of staying true to themselves despite external pressures.

Earlier this year, the Sugababes acknowledged the hurdles they encountered during their comeback without the use of their iconic band name. The original members surprised fans in 2011 by reuniting, marking their first collaboration since Donaghy’s departure in 2011.

Following Keisha’s departure in 2009, the core members regrouped under the name MKS, delivering successful performances and releasing new music. However, it wasn’t until 2019 that the band regained the rights to their name, propelling them back into the spotlight.

Discussing their return in an exclusive conversation with the Mirror, Siobhan praised the remarkable legacy of the iconic girl group, noting the enthusiasm of audiences during their shows. Keisha emphasized the group’s commitment to picking up where they left off and providing their loyal fans with a satisfying conclusion.
