Oasis recently honored their guitarist Bonehead following his withdrawal from the upcoming leg of their global reunion tour. The 60-year-old musician, known for his presence at the band’s renowned UK performances, disclosed that he had been re-diagnosed with cancer, having previously battled and overcome tonsil cancer in 2022.
Bonehead, real name Paul Arthurs, shared on social media his battle with prostate cancer, expressing gratitude for the positive response to treatment that allowed him to participate in the ongoing tour. However, he announced a necessary break for further treatment, leading to his absence from shows in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney, with a promise to return for the South America leg.
Despite his absence, Bonehead remains in the band’s thoughts, as Liam and Noel included a cardboard cutout of him on tour. The Gallagher brothers extended their well wishes to Bonehead, emphasizing his health as the top priority. Mike Moore, a longtime friend of Liam Gallagher and member of his solo touring band, will step in as the temporary replacement for Bonehead during the affected tour dates.
The band, including Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Joey Waronker, plans to continue the tour with Moore, who is familiar with Oasis songs from his time with Liam’s band. The band’s lineup adjustment aims to ensure Bonehead’s full recovery and eventual return to the stage, with hopes for his participation in the upcoming shows in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil.
As the band continues its tour, the support and understanding for Bonehead’s health journey remain a central focus for Oasis and their fans.
