“Stalker Claims to Be Missing Madeleine McCann”

Must read

Kate McCann, the mother of Madeleine McCann, reportedly received numerous text messages from a stalker who claimed to be her missing daughter, according to court proceedings.

During the trial at Leicester Crown Court, the prosecution presented evidence of text messages and voicemails sent by Julia Wandelt, a 24-year-old Polish national, to Mrs. McCann. Wandelt and Karen Spragg, 61, from Cardiff, are facing a charge of stalking, which they both deny.

The court heard excerpts of messages allegedly sent by Wandelt to Kate McCann, including pleas not to block her and assertions that she is not crazy. Wandelt also left voice messages for Mrs. McCann over several months, expressing beliefs that she could be Madeleine and urging Mrs. McCann to help her prove her identity.

Prosecutors claim that Wandelt propagated the false claim that she was Madeleine while harassing the McCanns through emails, phone calls, and visits to their residence from June 2022 to February this year. The jury was informed that Wandelt made over 60 calls and messages to Kate McCann in one day, recounting supposed memories related to Madeleine’s disappearance.

In a desperate plea, Wandelt asked for a DNA test and insisted that she was Gerry McCann’s daughter. The trial is ongoing as more details of the disturbing stalking behavior emerge.
