Must read

Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba has revealed his diagnosis with ADHD. The 39-year-old entertainer shared that he has been living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a condition characterized by symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and restlessness.

In a recent appearance on the Beyond The Label podcast, Ore expressed his relief at finally understanding certain traits that have been part of his life for as long as he can remember. Reflecting on his behaviors, he acknowledged that certain habits, which seemed normal to him, could be perceived as unusual by others. He admitted to recognizing instances where his ADHD tendencies were prominently displayed.

Receiving the ADHD diagnosis has provided Ore with a newfound self-awareness, allowing him to articulate feelings and experiences that have always been present but not fully comprehended. He emphasized that embracing this understanding has been a significant step for him.

Ore also shared that his ADHD has been advantageous in his career as an actor and presenter. He explained that some of the symptoms of ADHD align well with the demands of the performing arts, particularly in terms of learning choreography, scripts, and scene work within tight timeframes.

During the podcast, Ore opened up about his late sister Lola’s struggles with the same condition, which tragically led to her passing earlier this year. He recounted how Lola had faced negative labels and judgments throughout her life, lacking the support and understanding that could have made a difference.

Tears welled up in Ore’s eyes as he read a poignant poem left by his sister, shedding light on their shared mental health battles. The heartfelt verses depicted a sense of constant inner turmoil and weariness, underscoring the challenges faced by individuals dealing with such conditions.

For those in need of support, resources like the Samaritans helpline and Mind mental health charity are available to provide assistance and guidance. It’s crucial to seek help and reach out when struggling with mental health issues.
