“Three Generations of Family Guilty in Sussex Abuse Case”

Must read

In West Sussex, a girl endured sexual abuse from three generations of her family, as revealed in Hove Crown Court. The girl was victimized by her father, grandfather, and two brothers, while also facing child cruelty from her mother.

Six individuals have been convicted of 39 offenses against two sisters within the family, according to Sussex Police. Two defendants were also found guilty of perverting justice. Throughout the investigation, the victims received support from specialized officers and partner organizations.

The abuse came to light when the older sister disclosed the ordeal to a school staff member. Subsequently, the younger sister also disclosed being assaulted and neglected by their parents.

The trial commenced on September 16, culminating in guilty verdicts on 39 out of 42 charges. The defendants will remain in custody until their sentencing in 2026.

Sussex Police collaborated with the media to safeguard the victims’ identities during reporting due to legal constraints preventing the publication of the defendants’ names.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Harbour emphasized the complexity of the investigation and its profound impact on the victims. Prioritizing the welfare and protection of the victims, especially in such distressing circumstances, remains paramount.

Harbour underscored the collaborative effort with partner agencies to ensure ongoing safeguarding for the victims. Sussex Police reaffirmed its commitment to combatting violence against women and girls, urging all victims of sexual offenses to come forward.

Expressing satisfaction with the jury’s guilty verdicts, officers appealed to the public to refrain from online speculation to preserve the victims’ legal right to anonymity.

The detailed charges are accessible for review.
