“Toto Wolff Skips Mexico GP for Wife’s Book Launch”

Must read

Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff made a departure from his usual Formula 1 schedule to attend a special event at London’s Lyceum Theatre in support of his wife, Susie. The 53-year-old, known for his consistent presence at Formula 1 races, chose to prioritize his wife’s book launch over the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Susie’s memoir, “Driven,” which recounts her remarkable journey from the Scottish Highlands to the pinnacle of motorsport, drew in a crowd of around 2,000 attendees at the venue. Prior to this event, Wolff had participated in the Autosport Business Exchange in New York.

Susie’s career trajectory began at a young age, starting with karting at eight years old and progressing to Formula Renault in 2001. Despite facing challenges such as an ankle injury during her Formula 3 season with Alan Docking Racing, Susie continued to excel in motorsport.

From 2006 to 2012, Susie competed in DTM with Mucke Motorsport and later with Persson before transitioning to a developmental role with Williams in Formula 1. Notably, she made history by becoming the first woman to participate in a Formula 1 weekend since 1992 at the 2014 British Grand Prix.

After retiring from Formula 1 in 2015, Susie became a brand ambassador for Mercedes and took on leadership roles in motorsport, serving as Team Principal for Venturi Racing in Formula E and managing director of the all-female racing series, F1 Academy. While Wolff missed the Mexico City GP, he closely monitored his team’s performance.

The recent Mexico City Grand Prix saw Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli finishing sixth, with George Russell following closely behind. The race was won by McLaren’s Lando Norris, with Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Max Verstappen of Red Bull claiming the other podium positions.

In the current Drivers’ standings, Russell is in fourth place with 258 points, trailing leader Norris by 99 points, while Antonelli holds the seventh position with 97 points. Mercedes is currently in third place in the Constructors’ standings with 355 points, just one point behind Ferrari. However, McLaren leads the pack with 713 points from 13 victories and 30 podium finishes.

On a different note, Sky has introduced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering savings of £192 and access to over 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including the Premier League and EFL. Sky will showcase a minimum of 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase from the previous season.
