Tragic Avalanche Claims Lives of Three Tourists

Three tourists tragically lost their lives, while two others are currently missing following an avalanche that struck a mountain range in the Alps. The victims, consisting of a woman and two men, were fatally caught in the avalanche while on the rocky slopes of Cima Vertana in the Ortles Mountain range. The avalanche was triggered around 4pm in the South Tyrol region of Italy.

Rescue efforts are currently underway to locate the two missing members of the five-person ski mountaineering team. The search operation involves a helicopter rescue service and firefighters who are combing the area for any signs of the missing individuals.

The avalanche claimed the lives of a 30-year-old man and woman, as well as a 50-year-old man who were swept away while on their climb. Rescuers recovered their bodies following the tragic incident.

Reports from Italian outlet Union Sarda suggest that the avalanche occurred suddenly, with two climbers being trapped by debris and sustaining minor injuries in the process.
