“Woman Faces Jail for Murder Plot to Claim Insurance”

Must read

A woman who cheated on her husband is facing imprisonment for planning to kill him in order to claim a £124,000 life insurance policy. Michelle Mills collaborated with her lover, Geraint Berry, to devise multiple ways to murder Christopher Mills, including using a pillow, foxglove poisoning in his salad, and antifreeze in his gravy.

The plan was executed in a caravan at a holiday park in Cenarth, Carmarthenshire, where two masked individuals armed with fake guns attempted to attack Mr. Mills. However, he successfully defended himself, causing the intruders to flee, as revealed in court proceedings.

Following a thorough investigation, Mills, Berry, and a third suspect, Steven Thomas, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. While Thomas was acquitted by the jury, Mills and Berry were found guilty and are scheduled to be sentenced on December 19 at Swansea Crown Court.

Detective Inspector Sam Gregory of Dyfed-Powys Police expressed satisfaction with the guilty verdicts, emphasizing the seriousness of the conspiracy to end a life. He commended the investigative team for securing convictions and acknowledged Mr. Mills’ cooperation throughout the legal process.

The court heard that the plot was hatched shortly after Mr. Mills obtained a £124,000 insurance policy from Help For Heroes. Berry, a former Royal Marine, initiated the affair with Mills, leading to the attack in September of that year.

Text messages presented during the trial revealed the emotional involvement between Mills, a former charity worker from Llanelli, and Berry from Swansea. Despite their denials, Mills and Berry were found guilty of conspiracy, with Mills facing an additional charge of attempting to obstruct justice. Berry and Thomas had previously admitted to possessing imitation firearms with intent to cause fear.
