Shoppers who have bought a particular sweet treat from Lidl are being cautioned against consuming it due to possible metal fragments in the product. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an urgent alert, indicating that Lidl is recalling the XXL Sondey Stroopwaffel with Caramel Flavour Filling and Butter from store shelves.
The affected product is the XXL Sondey Stroopwaffel with Caramel Flavour Filling and Butter, packaged in 560g units. Products with best before dates of November 21, 2025, December 2, 2025, or December 3, 2025 are impacted.
According to the FSA, Lidl is initiating a recall of the mentioned product. Retail outlets selling this item will display point of sale notices to inform customers about the recall and provide instructions on what to do if they have purchased it.
Consumers who have bought the product are advised not to consume it. Instead, they should return it to the store of purchase for a full refund. For additional information, individuals can contact Lidl Customer Care via email at customer.care@lidl.co.uk or by calling 0203 966 5566.
The FSA elaborated that when a food product has issues that make it unsuitable for sale, it may be either ‘withdrawn’ (removed from shelves) or ‘recalled’ (customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to inform consumers and local authorities about food-related problems. In certain instances, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued, providing local authorities with specific directives for consumer protection.
