During the Southport Inquiry, Axel Rudakubana, a convicted killer, was compared to a sociopathic murderer from a well-known Hollywood film by his brother, Dion Rudakubana. Dion referred to his 18-year-old brother as resembling Anton Chugurh from ‘No Country for Old Men’, a character portrayed by Javier Bardem known for his accurate depiction of a psychopathic killer.
Speaking via video link, Dion expressed his concerns about his brother’s behavior, stating that he had feared Axel would harm someone long before the tragic murders of three young girls – Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King, and Alice da Silva Aguiar – at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class. Dion highlighted instances of violent outbursts by Axel, particularly after being expelled from school in 2019, describing his behavior as unpredictable and inconsistent.
Detailing his apprehensions further, Dion shared messages with the inquiry that indicated his worries about potential fatal actions by his brother. He mentioned instances where the family had to involve the police due to escalating situations and expressed serious concerns about the safety of his family members.
Despite the ongoing fears, Dion recalled the last interaction he had with Axel in 2023, recounting an incident where Axel displayed aggressive behavior. The parents of Rudakubana, Alphonse Rudakubana, and Laetitia Muzayire are scheduled to provide testimony later in the week as the inquiry continues its proceedings.
Axel Rudakubana, sentenced to a minimum of 52 years in prison earlier this year for the brutal murders, was informed that he would never be released and would spend his life in custody for the heinous crimes committed.
