“Stranger Things Star Joins Courteney Cox in True Crime Series”

Must read

Stranger Things star David Harbour will be part of a new true crime series led by Courteney Cox from Friends. Joining them in the production is Patricia Arquette from Severance, inspired by a popular documentary series.

The upcoming drama, Evil Genius, will delve into the infamous “pizza bomber” case where Brian Douglas Wells, a pizza delivery driver, executed a bank robbery in Erie, Pennsylvania in August 2003. Tragically, Wells died when an explosive device around his neck detonated during his arrest by the police.

According to reports, the FBI later uncovered that Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong and Kenneth Barnes were the masterminds behind the elaborate scheme, labeling it as one of the most intricate and peculiar crimes in FBI history.

A previous Netflix documentary, also titled Evil Genius, explored the complex motives behind the heist and Wells’ disputed involvement in the conspiracy. Now, an impressive cast including Michael Chernus, Garrett Dillahunt, Danielle Macdonald, Tom McCarthy, Gregory Alan Williams, Ryan Eggold, Owen Teague, and Harlow Jane will bring this gripping true crime story to life on screen.

Director Cox expressed her fascination with Evil Genius, describing it as a tale that is stranger than fiction, blending dark humor with deep emotional layers. The series, as summarized by Deadline, promises to uncover the human aspects of deception, desperation, and the blurred line between victim and villain.

Although best known for her acting roles in Friends and the Scream franchise, Cox has ventured into directing, previously working on projects like Talhotblond and Just Before I Go. She is set to return as Gale Weathers in the upcoming installment of the Scream series, slated for release in February.

In other news, Sky is offering a complimentary Netflix subscription with its new Sky Stream TV packages, including the £15 Essential TV plan, providing access to live and on-demand content without the need for a satellite dish.

Don’t miss the premiere of Stranger Things season 5 on Netflix this Wednesday, November 26th.
