“Microbiologist Advises Regular Cleaning for Air Fryers”

Must read

Air fryers have become a popular kitchen appliance for their ability to quickly cook delicious meals with minimal oil. However, keeping your air fryer clean is essential to avoid odors, maintain performance, and prevent bacterial growth.

Salomé Gião, a microbiologist at Shark, emphasized the importance of regular cleaning for air fryers. Despite their simplicity, air fryers require more attention than larger kitchen equipment. Cleaning the air fryer basket and tray after each use is crucial as they come into direct contact with food and can harbor bacteria if not cleaned properly.

Salomé recommended washing the basket and tray with a soap solution after every use, even if using a liner. For a deeper clean, she suggested creating a baking soda paste using a non-scratch sponge to tackle stubborn grease. To ensure overall cleanliness, a mixture of white vinegar and washing-up liquid can be used to remove bacteria, followed by rinsing with warm water.

In addition to daily cleaning, it is important to perform a thorough deep clean of the air fryer every four weeks, or more frequently depending on usage. This deep cleaning process helps eliminate bacteria that may accumulate in hard-to-reach areas from food spillages and grease buildup.

Keeping your air fryer clean not only ensures its longevity but also guarantees safe and efficient cooking.
