“Ocado to Cut 1,000 Jobs, Streamline Operations”

Must read

Ocado recently announced intentions to cut approximately 1,000 positions as part of cost-saving measures totaling £150 million. This reduction will impact about 5% of the workforce, primarily affecting UK operations, including the headquarters in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The company plans to streamline its operations by merging Ocado Solutions and Ocado Intelligent Automation into a single entity.

Notably, these job cuts will not affect the Ocado retail division. The announcement came alongside Ocado’s financial report, revealing a significant profit increase. The company reported a 12.1% rise in group revenue to £1.36 billion for the year ending November 30, 2025, with adjusted EBITDA climbing 59% to £178 million.

CEO Tim Steiner stated that their focus on research and development will prioritize areas with the most potential for value creation. Additionally, as Ocado expands into new international markets following exclusivity agreements, organizational restructuring will align with their commercial strategy and operational efficiency goals. Unfortunately, these changes will result in the redundancy of numerous roles.

Ocado, founded in 2000 by Tim Steiner, Jason Gissing, and Jonathan Faiman, offers a wide range of products, including M&S food products and its own brand items. The company expressed gratitude to affected employees for their contributions and pledged support during the transition.
