“British Adults Feel Trapped in Routine, Fear Change: Survey”

Must read

A recent survey has revealed that a significant majority of British individuals, eight out of 10, admit to feeling stuck in a routine but are hesitant to make changes due to fear. The study, conducted on 2,000 adults, found that 34% are apprehensive about stepping into new endeavors like switching jobs, moving to a different location, opting for an electric car, or even renovating their homes.

Among the activities people often postpone are solo trips, starting a business, and trying a skydive. The main reasons for avoiding change include concerns about costs (37%) and a lack of motivation (34%).

To aid those feeling trapped, the electric car company Leapmotor has partnered with life coach Dior Bediako to develop the Take a Leap Journal, a practical resource providing guidance and tips for individuals seeking to break free from their routines.

The journal, featuring insights from Dior Bediako, is structured into two sections: before taking the leap and during the leap. It offers tools and prompts to help identify barriers, realign with goals, and boost self-belief.

According to Bediako, common reasons holding people back from change include fear of the unknown, financial worries, and low confidence. She emphasizes that taking small steps can lead to significant differences and eventual transformation.

The survey also highlighted age as a perceived obstacle, with 74% viewing age as a hindrance to trying new things, setting the average age for new experiences at 60. Regrets about missed opportunities were prevalent, with 56% of adults expressing regret for not making changes, particularly common among Gen Z individuals.

Regarding positive outcomes, half of those who embraced change reported feeling significantly better afterward, with 48% experiencing a renewed sense of energy.

Top aspirations for Brits include taking up new hobbies, making new friends, and trying a hot air balloon ride. While some consider switching to an electric car, challenges such as cost, range anxiety, and loyalty to current vehicles hinder this transition.

Leapmotor UK’s managing director, Damien Dally, noted the barriers preventing many from taking the leap they desire. He highlighted the Take a Leap Journal as a comprehensive guide offering support and guidance for individuals looking to make significant changes in their lives.

Dally emphasized the aim to make change less intimidating and more achievable for those considering shifts in their careers, locations, or transportation choices.
