“Meghan Markle Faces Backlash Over Royal-Branded Product”

Must read

Meghan Markle faces criticism over the recent launch of her As Ever product. The former actress, now known as the Duchess of Sussex, is being accused of leveraging her royal connections for promotional purposes. Fans expressed disappointment with the unveiling of her latest item after a week of anticipation.

In a video posted on Instagram, Meghan could be seen working at her desk with one of her new $64 candles and a blue notebook, prominently displaying her royal monogram featuring the letter M with a crown. This insignia, originally revealed before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, stirred controversy among followers due to Meghan’s decision to step back from her royal responsibilities in 2020.

Following their move to Montecito and withdrawal from royal duties, Meghan’s use of the royal symbol in her recent product line sparked backlash online. Critics voiced their disapproval, citing it as another instance of Meghan capitalizing on her royal association.

Meghan’s As Ever website describes her latest release as a product that captures the essence of a day in the English countryside, drawing inspiration from her wedding day on May 19, 2018. The collection, which includes a recent wine launch, signifies a significant evolution for Meghan’s lifestyle brand that debuted in March 2025, focusing on the theme of gift-giving.

Introducing two new products to her As Ever range, Meghan unveiled ceramic scented candles in the Christmas collection. The candles, named after important dates in her life, reflect her personal connections. Notably, one candle, labeled 519, pays homage to her wedding day with fragrances of Moroccan mint and white tea, while the other, No. 084, is inspired by her birthday with notes of sandalwood, lotus, and poppy.

During her attendance at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington DC, Meghan shared her excitement for the future of her brand, expressing plans for expanding her business with new product releases in the near future.
