The Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported the tragic death of a 47-year-old man in a collision involving two commercial transport trucks on the Trans-Canada Highway in central Newfoundland. The incident occurred near Gullbridge, also known as Gull Pond Bridge, situated between Badger and South Brook. Authorities were alerted to the crash around 2:15 a.m. NT on Tuesday, with both vehicles engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
The deceased individual, a 47-year-old man traveling east, was pronounced dead at the crash site. The driver of the westbound tractor-trailer sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment, where they remain under medical supervision. The police operation led to the closure of a section of the Trans-Canada Highway between Badger and South Brook for several hours on Tuesday.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the collision, as authorities continue to work on the case.
