Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the well-known YouTube talk show “Chicken Shop Date,” has decided to bring her show to a close after over ten years of engaging conversations with movie stars, musicians, and athletes over some fried chicken.
In an emotional Instagram post, Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her viewers for joining her on this journey of creating captivating stories. Despite her initial belief that “Chicken Shop Date” would be a permanent part of her life, she now feels it’s time to embark on a new adventure.
Dimoldenberg initiated the show 12 years ago by interviewing musicians in the underground rap scene in Britain. Over time, she broadened her guest list to include celebrities like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, amassing nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.
“Chicken Shop Date” features Dimoldenberg sharing a meal at a fried chicken shop in London with a celebrity, engaging in a mix of flirty, humorous, and sometimes awkward questions. The format creates a casual and playful atmosphere, akin to a first date rather than a formal interview.
Among her numerous interviews, Dimoldenberg also interacted with Canadians, such as Ryan Reynolds, who mistakenly referred to his wife Blake Lively’s character on “Gossip Girl.” The show’s success has opened up new opportunities for Dimoldenberg, including covering the Oscars red carpet this year, where she interviewed Hudson Williams.
While Dimoldenberg’s future plans remain undisclosed, she is set to develop a young adult drama series for the BBC. Before bidding farewell to “Chicken Shop Date,” she has promised her fans a few final dates to cherish before the show concludes for good.
