The 78th Annual Emmy Awards were held on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, featuring a blue carpet to commemorate NBC’s 100th anniversary. Hosted by Mariska Hargitay, the event honored excellence in television, with “Widow’s Bay” standing out as the evening’s top winner, garnering a record-breaking 14 Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series and acting accolades for Matthew Rhys, Stephen Root, and Kate O’Flynn. “The Pitt” secured the award for Outstanding Drama Series for the second consecutive year, while “DTF St. Louis” claimed the title of Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Highlights of the night included Noah Wyle winning for lead actor in a drama for “The Pitt,” Rhea Seehorn for lead actress in a drama in “Pluribus,” and Jean Smart for lead actress in a comedy for “Hacks.” Matthew Rhys also had a remarkable evening, clinching the award for lead actor in a limited series or movie for “The Beast in Me.”
The ceremony paid tribute to Dolly Parton, featured a performance by Reba McEntire, and included an emotional rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Noah Kahan. Stars from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Charlie’s Angels” came together to mark the anniversaries of their respective shows.
In addition to the awards, the event showcased stunning fashion statements on the blue carpet. Notable looks included Supriya Ganesh in a pale blue McQueen gown, Matty Matheson in a classic tuxedo, Lisa Rinna in a sculptural black gown, and Grace Gummer in a black pleated dress. Other standouts included Joy Sunday in an off-white gown, Noah Kahan in a sharp tuxedo, Colman Domingo in a bold ensemble, Lukita Maxwell in a champagne-gold dress, and Megan Stalter dressed as a golden Emmy statuette. Cynthia Nixon, Alan Cumming, Zendaya, Selena Gomez, Nicole Kidman, Florence Pugh, Riz Ahmed, Emilia Clarke, Claire Danes, Sarah Pidgeon, and Dan Levy also dazzled in their stylish outfits at the prestigious event.
