Brighton & Hove Albion has secured the signing of Canadian striker Promise David for the upcoming Premier League season on a season-long loan from Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium. The agreement includes an obligation to buy David for a reported fee of $29.7 million US if specific criteria are met.
Union Saint-Gilloise confirmed that David will be making his Premier League debut in the next season for a record fee for the Belgian club. The 25-year-old forward arrives at Brighton after a successful two seasons at Union, where he scored 41 goals in 82 matches and contributed to the club’s first league title in 90 years in 2025. David extended his contract with Union through June 2029 last year.
Having represented Canada at the recent World Cup, David scored one goal while recovering from a hip injury. He has four goals in 14 appearances for the Canadian national team. Born in Brampton, Ontario, to Nigerian parents, David initially played for Nigeria’s under-23 team before switching his allegiance to Canada in 2025 following discussions with coach Jesse Marsch and FIFA approval.
